Angelus films screenings draw full house at Windrider Forum during Sundance

The Angelus Student Film Festival took its “show on the road” to the Windrider Forum Jan. 25 during the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.In its sixth year, an “Evening of Angelus” has been featured on opening night of each of the Windrider Forums, created by Angelus sponsor Priddy Brothers for undergraduate college and master of theology students to explore the intersection of faith and film by screening and discussing Sundance films. This year’s screenings drew a full house at Mountain Vineyard. After the screenings, the Angelus-honored filmmakers discussed their films with the audience: Windrider participants, Sundance festival goers and local residents.
Monika Moreno, Director of the Angelus Student Film Festival, emceed the event and moderated the discussion session.
Among the 2009 Angelus winning films that were screened and discussed was “Kavi” by Gregg Helvey (University of Southern California), the Peter Glenville Foundation Triumph Award, which received a 2010Academy Award nomination Best Live Action Short. Also featured was "Desert Wedding" by Alexandra Fisher (UCLA), "On the Road to Tel-Aviv," by Khen Shalem (Florida State University) and "Waiting for a Train: The Toshio Hirano Story" by Oscar Bucher (San Francisco State University.)
Angelus alums John Patton Ford and J.J. Adler's had films, "Patrol" and "New Media," respectively, screened as official selections of the Sundance Film Festival's Shorts Program.
